Phoenix Island’s Silver Sands Beach stretches along the coast in a crescent moon shape for well over a kilometer. Its expansive horizons and warm refreshing waters invite sun lovers to wade into its sandy shallow waters that gradually deepen to meet crashing waves that promote body surfing and pleasure for everyone. It’s also a great place for wind surfing, sailing, snorkeling, boating and fun in the sun. For peace of mind and safety, anti-shark nets are in place as well as life guard towers. This beach is poised to be an excellent privatized beach for patrons who are willing to put out a little cash. See below for details.

Beach tables, large umbrellas, tents, water & beach gear, sports equipment, and just about anything you can imagine is yours to indulge in pleasure by the sea! Flowerbeds and boardwalks line the back end of the beach making access to showers and washrooms very convenient.

Location: How to get to Silver Sands Beach

Qingdao’s Silver Sands Beach is located on the South East side of the peninsula or island as it is commonly referred to. If you were looking at a road atlas you might find the 399 Provincial Road that runs all the way around the peninsula. This provincial road is also sometimes called the Island’s West Ring Road and East Ring Road. (西环岛 – 东环岛)

To make things more confusing, the city also uses the name Silver Sands Beach Road that describes the part of the road in front of the beach.

As you can see on our home page map the beach is located directly across from the Kempinski Hotel. Its physical address is 178 Silver Sands Beach Road, Huangdao District, Qingdao, Shandong, China. PC: 266555

There is only one road around the island and the Silver Sands Beach has two entrances; one on the west by the Kempinski Hotel and one a little further to the east of the hotel. The western entrance has a wood framed housing development and several new buildings that should offer restaurants and shopping. The eastern entrance, which used to be the main entrance, is clearly marked with signs in both English and Chinese.
